Neil at The Rutles Reunion, 3-08
Neil's career has really been on the upswing since 2000. He has appeared at several events such as The Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago, IL; New York (New Jersey), and Las Vegas, NV. In September, 2009, he attended Dragon Con, a sci-fi/fantasy convention in Atlanta, GA, USA, with Terry Gilliam. He has been on several US and UK tours.

Footage from concerts he performed in Los Angeles in 2000 and 2003 were filmed for a new project: a documentary called "The Seventh Python." Produced by Brett Hudson of The Hudson Brothers fame and directed by Burt Kearns, this documentary diverged from the conventional biographical documentary in that it portrays Neil in the present (2000's) rather than in the past. It delves into the dichotomy with which Neil has dealt his whole career--balancing his privacy with his art, which he feels compelled to express as an artist as well as make a living doing what he loves. He has maintained his artistic integrity over his entire career by keeping the publishing rights to his music. He has sacrificed money and more fame because he is not a pawn to the recording industry. After the premier in Los Angeles, CA, in 2008, the documentary was shown at the three 2008 Fest for Beatle Fans and several film festivals in Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; and Perth, Australia, during 2008 and 2009. It has won several film festival awards. It is tentatively scheduled for DVD release in 2010.

He has celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band with a UK tour in 2006, the 30th anniversary of The Rutles in 2008 in Los Angeles. Neil will be receiving full rights to his music in 2010, including The Rutles.

It is rumoured that the BBC will be showing The Innes Book of Records for its 30th anniversary.

Neil's summer and autumn US and UK tours have included songs that he has not performed live in many years. He has tentative plans to come back to the US west coast in early 2010.

I was lucky enough to attend The Fest for Beatle Fans in August, 2008 and March, 2009. Neil signed all my vinyl albums. I proudly display them below.
