1980's

From "I Give Myself to You." Neil has dressed up like a glam rocker and a woman a few times. Creating a new version, he would reuse some songs from RWT to include it in IBoR.
I give myself
From "Children's Song." In case you don't know, he is impersonating Sir Richard Attenborough, who has done all those wonderful television shows on nature. This is what the compound eye of the fly sees.
Children's Song
From "Godfrey Daniel." That wonderful Elton John pastiche with a naughty line in it: "It's not just doorknobs that come off in your hand." In case you don't know the story, the American comedian W. C. Fields always used to say "Godfrey Daniel" as a vulgarity (cuss word). That clever brain of Neil's always seems to make unusual relationships between songs and lyrics.
God Dan wink
After the greedy American publishers of The Beatles' music decided to force Neil to include "Lennon/McCartney/Innes on his Rutles' music, which he had to give up 50% of his rights to them, he was disgusted with the music business for a few years. It was probably the darkest time of his career. But he conquered another artistic genre when wrote so many beautiful melodies and children's stories. He won an award for his contributions to children's television, including TisWas, East of the Moon, and Puddle Lane. He also narrated several children's shows and issued children's stories in book form. There must be lots of British children who recall the songs and stories from their childhoods.Below, Neil as the Wizard in "Puddle Lane."
