Welcome to this history of Neil Innes site. Neil Innes is one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century. He has expressed many emotions and issues in his music such as loneliness, love, grief, politics, freedom of speech, death, evolution, frustration, satire, and just plain silliness! Using almost every musical genre, he has written several songs should be considered classic or standard. Each one is a unique melody that is instantly recognizable. He is also an author with a book about economics, a philosopher since his young adulthood, and an observer of our world. He comments on what he has seen in his music. Not to mention he has written some real rockin' songs! He can be as silly as wearing a plastic duck on his head or as serious as writing a song for a lost friend.
